Abdminoplasty (tummy tuck)

Is one of the most common surgeries in my practice and worldwide, abdominoplasty (also known as lipectomy or Tummy Tuck) is a procedure that involves removing excess skin and fat from the abdomen and tightening the muscles of the midline (similar to a corset); It involves the formation of a new navel and a scar in the lower abdominal region similar in location to a cesarean section scar, unfortunately it is required to be longer than a cesarean scar; the length of the scar depends directly on the excess skin to be removed. The main reason why patients seek to undergo this procedure is due to the sequelae of pregnancy, followed by changes in body weight.

In my experience abdominoplasty is accompanied by liposuction in 90% of cases to obtain a better and more natural result, always being the decision to include it at the request of the patient and with her consent.

During the years that I have dedicated to plastic surgery and with more than 700 cases of experience performing abdominoplasty, I have developed a particular style; in the final result I look for the patient to look a flatter, firmer and slimmer abdomen with a natural looking navel and imperceptible scar. I also look for global changes in the silhouette of the abdomen, torso and waist; improve the shape and projection of the buttocks, regularize the mount of venus and give the bust a more elevated and rounded appearance; to achieve all this it is necessary to include liposuction in the procedure.

The first appointment is of utmost importance to establish the particular interests you have, and to explain in detail all the potential that this surgery has to achieve a real change in your life. Also, we will talk in detail about the indications, pros and cons, potential benefits and disadvantages and everything that is involved in having this procedure.

Once you determinate to get this procedure, it will be necessary to perform preoperative blood tests and a medical evaluation of your health. In our practice we start with some medications before surgery, this will be explained in person at your preoperative consultation as well.

Abdominoplasty surgery requires hospitalization, at least one night. It is necessary to place drains under the skin of the wound, the wound sutures are absorbable and do not need to be removed
